About Kenton

Kenton Knowles’ life reads as part travelogue and part employment directory in his quest to create and produce sustainable buildings and structures as unique as himself.

In the past three decades, the Kansas native has studied at three universities and earned two degrees (listed chronologically) …

  • Art and Architecture studies, Kansas State University in Manhattan
  • Solar Architecture studies, Arizona State University in Tempe
  • Bachelor of Architecture degree, University of Kansas in Lawrence
  • Bachelor of Environmental Design degree, University of Kansas

… and later worked in Italy (with the Etruscan Foundation in Siena) and Sweden (with Rupert Gardner Design and his own firm, Kenton Unlimited Design, both in Stockholm) before returning to the United States. He speaks English, Swedish and Italian and has been known to think in Metric, AutoCAD, Feng Shui and the most foreign language of all, engineering.

His substantial resume includes varied-yet-related tasks such as builder, photographer, interior designer, decorator, furniture designer, architectural designer, production designer, contractor, furniture production, lighting and retail consultant, draftsman and finally owner and president of Global Homes, which he established in 2000.

A non-linear trek to be sure, yet all the while Kenton kept his eye and thoughts on design with the intent to make it more efficient for the consumer while achieving harmony with the world around it.

Using his global perspective, Kenton has developed a company in Global Homes that design affordable, economic and sustainable homes and buildings that nurture inhabitants and the environment.

Global Homes are homes for life – a life made better thanks to Kenton through innovative design and environmental forethought.
